The erotically playful woman has always interested the painter and draftsman Jeff Ibbo, who is exhibiting at Galerie S:t Petri from May 25 to June 6, 1973.
In about fifteen paintings, he presents to us his vision of woman.
His art can be described as erotic: men and women, alone and together, are transformed, dissolved, and reach states of erotic joy and pleasure. By twisting and reshaping the figures, Ibbo says he achieves a stronger physical relationship to things than if he merely rendered them through emotional observation.
Ibbo is influenced by Pop Art and comic drawing. Small events in a person’s existence are depicted. In his works he reworks a figure from the fully naturalistic, through various phases, to pure abstraction and back again. He seeks to sketch the irrational thoughts that go through a person’s mind while making love.
Jeff Ibbo comes from Copenhagen, where his art has attracted great attention.
Over the past five or six years, he has studied under Professor Hjorth Nielsen at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
This is the first time he is exhibiting in Sweden.
