Gravestone SeriesSet of five colour photographs, each measuring 9 × 13 cm, mounted on cardboard supports in the form of postcards. The photographs show the letters D, E, A, T and H, each taken from a different gravestone, together forming the word “DEATH”
The cards were sent to Sweden on 8 September 1975 to Kulturmagasinet VARGEN for the exhibition Vargen (The Wolf) Culture Magazine, held at Moderna Museet, Stockholm, from 7 to 30 November 1975 — one of the first exhibitions held at the museum after its renovation.
On the reverse of each photograph are the dispatch date stamp, Al Souza’s signature and address, the inscription “GRAVESTONE SERIES”, and the stamp “HAVE A PRODUCTIVE DAY”
