HOMAGE TO UNKNOWN ARTISTS
During several weeks beginning on March 31, 1981, Galerie S:t Petri’s kitchen will be transformed into an office. Jean-Paul Thénot, an art researcher from Paris, will temporarily move his Institut International d’Arthérapie (International Art Therapy Institute) to Lund.
Galerie S:t Petri will act as the Swedish representative for Thénot’s international project about artists who, for various reasons, remain unknown to the outside world. Writers, poets, artists, scientists, philosophers, and others who wish to participate in this Tribute to the Unknown Artists are invited to submit their ideas at Galerie S:t Petri’s kitchen on weekdays between 3–8 p.m. and Saturdays 1–5 p.m., until April 21. As the contributions arrive, they will be displayed at the Department of Contemporary Art and Environment at the Art Science Institution, Kyrkogatan 19, between 9–12 and 1–5 p.m. In this way, the project’s development can be followed step by step.
Reflections on the tribute to the unknown artists can be expressed in various forms — for example through photographs, texts, or sound.
The project, which starts in Lund and will continue for several years, also aims to award each participant an exhibition certificate. A bulletin will also be sent out with ongoing updates about the project’s progress. Finally, Jean-Paul Thénot will summarize his research in a book documenting the tributes to unknown artists.
NON-COMMERCIAL ART LABORATORY FOUNDED IN 1971.
USUALLY OPEN MONDAY TO FRIDAY 3–8 P.M., SATURDAY AND SUNDAY 1–5 P.M.
