JAROSŁAW KOZŁOWSKIWALL SCULPTURES V-IX GALERIE S:T PETRI LUND17.12.1979 - 02.01.1980
Jaroslaw Kozlowski from Poland visits Galerie S:t Petri in Lund from December 17, 1979 – January 2, 1980. It has been three years since he first came to Sweden and Galerie S:t Petri to present his logical art works called “Modalities”, which emphasized the many value possibilities — terms which almost, perhaps more or less, are associated with an attitude toward reality rather than with concepts of true or false.
For a long time there were various logical texts and reflections in Jaroslaw Kozlowski’s visual art, but in recent years he has primarily devoted himself to purely visual structures. At present, he is interested in walls. A wall is different from any other, and if one pays attention, one can discover much along the way.
Last year, Jaroslaw Kozlowski was asked to paint several people’s apartments — just like any professional painter would. He made color samples and the tenant chose the color himself. Then he painted the walls in the chosen color and at the same time kept the sample as documentation of the many “wall paintings.” These Wall Paintings have since been exhibited throughout Europe.
At Galerie S:t Petri, we can see wall sculptures V–IX. These sculptures are the facts of the walls themselves; it is the walls that speak with some assistance from the artist. He chooses how large the sculptures should be by cutting larger or smaller openings in the wall. The five sculptures are also associated with the following words: sometimes, someone, somewhere, somehow, something.
The exhibition is open weekdays from 3–8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 1–5 p.m.

Poznań, 31.12.1979
Dear Jean, dear Marie,
once more thank you for nice time in Lund. It was a great – and really splendid – surprise for me to see your gallery now. It looks absolutely wonderful! Congratulations!!! I’m very glad it was possible to make my exhibition at your place, Jean. And I hope you accepted my idea, however I have destroyed some walls there.
Next week I’ll make reproductions of photos I’ve taken of my exhibition, so will send you the layout for the poster (as well as some documentation photos) soon.
