ERIK HAGENSBILDER FRÀN SYDAMERIKA - FÖNSTERUTSTÄLLNING (pictures from south america - window exhibition)14.06 - 14.08.1974
Images from South America adorn Galerie S:t Petri’s windows this summer. From 14 June to 14 August 1974 the gallery presents ERIK HAGENS’s “Travel Diary from Peru and the Surrounding Countries,” the result of a 1971 journey through five Latin American states. The book, which consists of 352 photographs and drawings, is—according to Hagens—a depiction of the contrasts a foreigner experiences in South America. These contrasts appear in great and small ways; they may seem exotic or trivial, a struggle against nature or against powerful economic forces from outside—yet for the Latin American people they are the realities with which they must contend every day.
Over nine months Erik Hagens visited Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Brazil. In his pictures he tries to convey some of the impressions and experiences that this stay gave rise to.
