The performer was the artist and poet Tom Kröjer from Helsingborg, who danced around wrapped in steel wire to which fluttering sheets of newspaper had been attached.It was a foretaste of the “Internationel marginal usil-art hopning and film artconcept congress”, which is taking place in Ubbehoda for three months this autumn, from 16 August to 16 November.The congress is organised by Ubbehoda Center and Drakebygget-Örkelljunga in collaboration with Galerie S:t Petri. Its stated aim is to exchange ideas and experiences concerning marginal forms of artistic expression and information media.WELCOMEGalerie S:t Petri, which was also able to inaugurate two new rooms, will show an information exhibition about the symposium during the first week of August. It is expected to bring together a considerable number of contemporary artists from different parts of the world. Abroad, the gallery is known as an international platform for avant-garde art, but until now it has attracted little attention here at home, even though it has shown prominent Danish names such as Jytte Rex, Niels Viggo Bentzon, Henrik Have, Jørgen Nash, Tom Krøjer, Per Kirkeby, Poul Gernes, Lene Adler Petersen, Ursula Reuter and Erik Hagen.The gallery is international and has shown several hundred artists from all parts of the world, but the gallery’s owner, Jean Sellem, states that there is great interest in presenting Danish artists in Sweden.The gallery is non-commercial and non-institutionalized; instead, it is run as a laboratory for ideas. Its activities have been devoted especially to avant-garde art, and works using new media have been shown, including photographic art, performance works and environments.
