GERT GLENTOWVALDEMAR WENTZEVENTIDE19 - 27.03.1977
Eventide — Toward Evening is the title of the next exhibition at Galerie S:t Petri in Lund.
Valdemar Wentz, photographer, and Gert Glentow, poet, both from Lund, have brought together poems and photographs which, in part, describe the same darkly contemplative state of mind. The image suggests what the text continues to express, or vice versa. It is not a matter of one illustrating the other, but rather of an encounter between the two in the realm of twilight — both literal and symbolic.
In the images and texts, Valdemar Wentz and Gert Glentow offer a point of departure for associations — a foundation that belongs to the dusk, where experiences of fear and tragedy emerge quietly but clearly.
In the pictures, one glimpses Vibia, the doll with a cracked skull, conveying an impression of lifelessness. The name actually originates from a martyr who died in Carthage in the 3rd century.
Valdemar Wentz and Gert Glentow have not exhibited together before. The former has had numerous exhibitions behind him, both solo and in group shows. The latter has published the poetry collection To Almost See – To Almost Feel, and has contributed to several anthologies.
The exhibition opens on Saturday, March 19 at 3 p.m., and is open weekdays 3–8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays 12–5 p.m.
The poem accompanying the exhibition poster reads:
Development
society – we
society – they
society – it
